Epitope binning tests antibodies in a pairwise manner to determine whether the antibodies compete for the same binding region on an antigen. When many competitions between many antibodies are performed, a set of bins containing those antibodies that compete are created. Antibodies that compete and are in the same ‘bin’ often share a similar function. Choosing antibodies from different bins helps to find new biology and new IP space. Additionally, knowing the bin of an antibody can help predict biological function.
